About us

We love Jesus, and our deepest desire is to follow Him.

Ryan spent seven years studying theology with the intention of serving Christ in Protestant ministry. He majored in Biblical Studies at an Assemblies of God university, and earned his M.Div at one of the nation’s most reputable Evangelical seminaries. He served as a high school youth group leader for multiple Protestant churches throughout college and graduate school, before being hired as the youth pastor for a non-denominational church in Florida. He served this church for five years.

After deciding to become Catholic, Ryan earned his MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. He is passionate about the intersection of spiritual direction and mental health, in addition to trauma counseling. He is EMDR-certified, and is pursuing licensure as an LMHC. Ryan works at a Catholic parish as a clinical counselor and young adult minister.

Margaret was raised in a Catholic family. When she was in middle school, her entire family left Catholicism for an Evangelical Free church. Margaret was a passionate Evangelical Christian in high school, a prodigal in college, and reignited in faith as a young adult. Her biggest problem at this juncture was that, one by one, her family members began returning to the Catholic faith. Eventually, Margaret and her Protestant-pastor-husband were the only non-Catholics left in her entire family. Seeking to reclaim her family from Catholicism instigated Margaret’s own research, and eventual conversion.

Margaret studied Government in college and earned her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling way before Ryan knew it was cool. She counseled child victims of sexual abuse for several years, and is now a full-time mom. Margaret is passionate about raising their five children to know and love Christ. Her greatest hope is to help the whole world fall in love with the truth and beauty of the Catholic faith.

About this blog

The intention of this blog is to explain our journey of becoming Catholic. We hope it ignites curiosity, sparks questions, and propels you on your own journey of following Christ.

We have attempted to tell our story as accurately as possible. Some events and conversations were consolidated for clarity. Any theological misrepresentations are completely unintentional, and every effort has been made to steel-man both sides of the theological divide. There is far more nuance to both Protestantism and Catholicism than could ever be captured in a small blog; we do not claim to have covered it all.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to let us know. Better yet, if you’re local, come over for dinner!
